FWIW I run an optical link from my OPPO 4K player to one of my Phantom Gold speakers (the other has an optical link through valve pre for the turntable and a Sonos Connect (I’m waiting on the Devialet Arch to become available to me) to the other Gold.
Roon talks over the air to them and everything triggers perfectly.
That’s perfectly now … before Roon readiness and recent Devialet software blunders it was a bit painful.
I also have a bunch of Sonos gear for TV surround, outdoor entertaining, etc and everything meshes really well (Sonos audio quality aside).
I’m going to set up a little “analog den” at another spot on the property and dig all of my pre digital gear out of storage - but I’ll be looking for a decent DAC to integrate with it all.
