please add the discogs link in the new wikipedia editorial feature
just be able to display the disocgs info would be so cool
Integration with Discogs would be amazing. I’ll often use Roon to discover albums that I want to purchase on vinyl. Reading the editorial sources and streaming from Tidal via Roon. Then I’ll hop over Discogs to research releases and or and to my Discogs wantlist.
A really intriguing thought. I’m a bit weary of all the different versions of albums out there though. Roon currently seems to have a database that is stable, I don’t want that to suffer if different versions of recordings end up in there.
+1 as vinyl lover a good and complimentary feature
+1 to Discogs integration. This would be a big benefit to those with both physical and digital metadata libraries. Also many high quality devices now exist for doing digital backups of vinyl. Im sure that will spark some arguments… LOL
Agreed, I have a lot of my collection on vinyl and quite a bit of this is not available through Tidal. It would be good to have integration between Roon and Discogs even if it was to prompt me to the possibility of ripping something to extend my digital collection.
Just to be able to link the vinyl albums I own (as shown on my Discogs) to Roon would be great.
Yes! I would love some means of adding a “Vinyl” tag to the Roon albums I have on vinyl.
Possibly a plug-in?
I just found a pretty good method:
Using Soundiiz, add Discogs to the sources, and do a Transfer of the Discogs contents to a new playlist in Qobuz or TIDAL. Open that playlist in Roon and add a “Vinyl” tag to all items.
Mind blown…
For the last couple of months I have slowly added my collection to Discogs. I already was using Soundiiz for Spotify playlist. Now I found a whole new thing to do with it.
Its not fast though, especially with longer lists.
+1 to Discogs integration.
It would be great, if that would be possible via an API. But: I see some alternative methods. Just have a look at the android app Hifi-Cast: The app takes (alternatively) the artist / the album / the composer and sends this information to the discogs website.
For example, if you are playing “Speak To Me” from “The Dark Side of the Moon”, HiFi-Cast provides www links to the discogs search for Pink Floyd / The Dark Side of the Moon / Nick Mason:
Search for The Dark Side Of The Moon
Another method could link directly to the relevant page but needs more input of the user: in the metadata you can store data f.ex. in the field “www”. Server like Minimserver can use that data to link to external websites, f.ex.:
Comment.displayFormat={$www^<a href="https://www.discogs.com/de/release/^">Link zur Veröffentlichung in Discogs</a><br />$*infoFileURI^<a href="^">Weitere Infos/Digital booklet </a>$comment}, artist.displayFormat={$artist^ $Conductor^ Dirigent: ^ }
Why shouldn’t that be possible in Roon? Name one field in the metadata tags and declare that tag as “link to discogs”.
All methods would be great - especially for music, that isnt’t as famous as TDSOFTM
