On an iPad, the Signal Path on Arc identifies a USB DAC but the Signal Path on Roon as an endpoint does not. Is there some reason for this? Will Roon app get this in the future?
EDIT: edited original post and title to be more clear about Signal Path which wasn’t originally stated
No Roon has never shown the DAC on iOS. They claimed at the time it doesn’t feedback this info. Yet it works in ARC just fine. So likely the audio routing on the main app is different. I doubt this will change. It may also be down to the app design being very different Roon app isn’t native, ARC may well be. It behaves more akin to one.
I think it’s clear that Roon resources are not unlimited. I would rather Roon work on things that do matter. Also, I would like to see them add resources to ensure updates don’t introduce new problems while solving other problems. Finally, I would like to see a more robust customer support organization.
I’m only suggesting this as I have no other information available, but when ARC releassed, Roon explained that it used a different application architecture than Roon Remote, and at some point in the undefined future Roon wants to merge Roon Remote and ARC into a single application. My assumption is that ARC’s different architecture is the reason why connected DACs are displayed differently compared to Roon Remote.
