Apparently there is a problem with MacOS 27 and Roon. What about iPadOS 27? That’s how I control my system so I don’t want to update to that if it’s going to cause a problem. I’m planning on waiting on updating the MacMini that’s my server until the problems are sorted.
I’m on all of the same hardware and software you mentioned above and have no issues after allowing my apple macOS 27 have access to local devices, but by updating your client app or even iOS to iOS 27 on your iPad, you will be fine. The issue which has always been an issue with past major OS updates is only experienced when updating your macOS on your Roon server computer.
I updated my iPad Pro 13 to iPadOS27 the other day and have had no problems. But I have left the Macmini which runs my Roon Server on MacOS26 as there do seem to be issues with the latest version.
Thanks, I think I’ll leave my server alone for now until that gets sorted out but go ahead and update my iPad and phone..
Thanks for the response, I think I’ll do the same with my setup.
11 posts were split to a new topic: I updated my MacMini M4 from MacOS 26 to 27 without a problem with the Roon Server
Two iPad Airs and a Pro all working fine with iPadOS 27 and Roon.
Note however that if you use the AssistiveTouch feature as a virtual home button, to avoid swiping up and occasionally mis-hitting the Roon progress bar, the iOS/iPadOS 27 upgrade resets its customisations.
No problems for me - updated 2 iPad Pros (different generations)
The issue that I have after the update only has to do with my bedroom HomePod mini. Some have said that Roon couldn’t see some endpoints. Roon sees all my endpoints, and almost everything is ok, except the HomePod, which appears to be playing in the app (song time ticking away), but there is no sound. Very odd indeed. Temporarily, as a work around, I can play Roon on my phone, and airplay it to the HomePod. I’m hoping that it gets fixed soon so I can skip the phone.
Hi All
Just updated Roon to 2.73 (build1694) and note that the issue identified when moving from iOS/OS 26 to 27 remains unfixed. However, work around as previously documented, with manual restart of Roon Server from Finder>Applications>Roon then right click and open Contents and double click RoonServer worked.
I did not need to reboot my MacBook Air (M5) to see other network connected devices (Win 10 laptop, iPhone 12 Pro Max on iOS 27) refresh and individually then see “all available” devices (and not just the device RoonServer happens to be located on).
From reading blogs I had assumed that this new Roon release would fix this?
Regards Jim
For me, this workarround works partiallity. I can see the airplay audio devices but no sound is played on them anyway.
ARC runs ok from my iPhone but rooon applicatin can’t set a secirity connection to ARC.
Roon didn’t fix the Apple issue as like I said it’s an Apple locked down code restriction, but others have updated to the new version with success on the workaround. Here is another user’s feedback after updating Dave.
