I have a few songs in my library which are part of albums that I stream from TIDAL, but I want to replace specific songs with local files I have. Specifically this is for songs like ISHFWILF by Disturbed and Theories by Watsky which have long sections of silence at the beginning/end that I want to remove.
I have the songs imported and they are being recognized as the song, but then I just have two versions of that song. One in the album with the other songs from TIDAL and one outside of the album. How do I link the two songs and prefer my local copy? Is that possible?
I’m not sure your question is possible in Roon.
But you could achieve similar results by making a playlist for these albums, adding tracks from Tidal or your local files as you wish.
I figured it out. I grouped the songs from TIDAL with my custom version into an album and then matched it with the correct album from Roon’s records. The only downside I can find from this is that I either have to unfavorite the album in TIDAL (what I did) or deal with the duplicate track in my library (which wouldn’t be a big deal either as I can just unfavorite it in Roon and it goes with all the other tracks that I only listen to when listening to the full album)
I didn’t think grouping would work so didn’t mention it but if you added tracks as favourites in Tidal and not the whole album I guess it fills in the blanks. Well done.
