Is it safe to upgrade to Tahoe yet?

Yes, this is a known issue for some people, as mentioned several times above in this thread. Roon is working on this and are apparently close to a solution, according to a recent post in the relevant thread in Support

Im Running the beta of Tahoe and I have absolutely zero problems.

Yup… that’s my only issue. For me, it’s only that on Macbook Air it’ll take a few launch attempts before it finally takes. Once up and running, no issues.

First I used the public beta, then the official OS26, then 26.0.1 since the update yesterday, on my two Macs (Macbook Pro and Mac Mini).

Everything was always OK. Zero problems.

I have massive massive issues with Tahoe. It broke Plex, I fixed it. It broke my home automation server, I fixed it. Now Roon seems to be more complex. I gave authorisation to Roon for the local network. Yet it still stuck with the home looking like it is charging stuff but it simply doesn’t. Any pointers ?

Don’t do it!

Been running Roon for 8 years with only a few hiccups. Upgraded and now it’s hell!!

Roon won’t let me log in. Simply times out every time. Reinstalled Roon 20+ times. Changed DNS. Rebooted everything and it won’t work. Interestingly, I’m having difficulty even connecting to Roon’s website on my desktop on Tahoe but my laptop which is running old Ventura, is no problem.

Yes, all the obvious things were done like turning off firewalls, etc.

About ready to give up on Roon

I’d take this as evidence that your problem is unrelated to Roon as such

I think its evidence that Roon and Tahoe are not playing nicely

No imo …………………

While there were problems with Tahoe, they were different and I don’t think anybody else reported this.

Your web browser and the Roon app are and do completely different things. So, if browsing the Roon website is also problematic, then most likely there isn’t a separate issue in both apps that happens to lead to similar behavior, but the issue is probably in something that they both share.

One thing they share is that they use the network generally, and Roon IP addresses in particular. So this - the network side of things (starting with the Mac‘s network connection) and how it treats Roon-related IP addresses - is where I’d start looking.

Edit:
@Christopher_La_Mendo On re-reading your post: The Roon login mechanism uses the system’s web browser too, so if you can’t browse to the Roon website it’s not surprising if you can’t log in. Look into web browser, content blockers, cookies, etc.

(Still not a Roon issue as such)

I am using a 16 inch MacBook Pro M2 Max as my server with Wiim Pro as endpoint. Since updating to Tahoe I have not yet had a single evening of uninterrupted music using Roon. (I have been using Early Access builds for over six weeks.)

It’s a good thing that I have my CDs to spin and I’ve pulled an old DAP out of the drawer to feed the Wiim Pro optical in.

(Granted, Tahoe broke so many of my Pro Audio Apps that I had to move my 13 inch MacBook Pro back to Sequoia to wait for the dust to settle.)

I’ve been a beta tester for macOS and iOS for some time now and I run Tahoe since a while . Absolutely zero issues with roon since day 1.

Even after updating roon , all endpoints are always there. No more messing around with privacy settings or VPNs. It just works .

I had zero crashes with roon. I run my m4 Mac mini headless and even remote access or casting the screen to a AirPlay device over WiFi ! Has never been so flawless.

That may well be but 1) it doesn’t sound like one of the known Tahoe issues, so maybe it’s not a Tahoe issue, 2) in any case it’s not the same thing as @Christopher_La_Mendo’s web browser problems.

And you should open a Support ticket.

I have, and I’ve used Firefox and Safari as well. All firewalls off, all caches cleared and no ad blockers. The only thing that helped at all was changing DNS to Cloudfare 1.1.1.1 It then worked for all of 3 days and then went back to the login circle. It has rarely and randomly connected and signed in, but then the only thing that happens is when I try to sign into Tidal, I’m told on the website sign-in page that I’m successfuly signed into Tidal + Roon, but back on the Roon App it never actually signied and I just get a spinning circle.

I’ve got Roon going on an old Mac Pro laptop running Ventura and it works fine, so my network is OK.

From day one of Tahoe on my core server. Nothing but fails.

It’s not just Roon and Tahoe….

It would be better worded to say Tahoe doesn’t play nice… with a lot of apps.

Apple is more concerned with their ecosystem playing nice with Tahoe than Tahoe playing nice with others.

To be honest, I’d raise such compatibility questions directly towards roon support. They must be able to tell you if it’s fine or not. Since they are in charge to properly test any kind of (major) OS release with their own software.

You should open a Support ticket or report on Early Access because that’s what it’s for.

If people who experience an issue in EA don’t report it, there will be whining again after the EA build is moved to support.

Sigh! Tahoe 26.2 has sorted out the problems in my three Pro Audio Apps…

But Roon 2.57 running on M2 Max MacBookPro playing to Wiim Pro Firmware built 20251208 is still basically useless. Can’t play a whole track before skipping ahead.

I miss Sequoia!

I am running Tahoe on M4 mini and have had zero issues.
