Is Roon an overkill for me?

Most of them cost too much… except the Raspberry Pi running Ropieee.

Isn’t the annual subscription the only one available? The lifetime one was removed a while back I believe.

Can Spotify be integrated into Roon? If so, I must have missed it

No. The OP was referring to general music subscriptions, not just those he can use with Roon, hence the line:

It costs only slightly more than a low-spec NAS. The fan is slightly audible though. I wish passive cooling were more mainstream.

HeHe, my NAS is in the basement

Thanks. I just wanted to be sure as I also pay for Tidal.

No. Lifetime is still available, but the price increased.
There is a monthly subscription available too.

Good to know, thanks!

@Peter_Ho2 I would echo Alexander’s experience. I also used the ELAC proposition as a low cost way of getting into the Roon experience. I also had a Tidal account to see how the streaming worked and a Synology NAS as my file server/back up. Unless you really want to get into DSP/Roon Radio or need use your PC/MAC or Chromecast as an endpoint it is really cost effective, leaving you funds for those streaming services and albums. After all it is really about the music.
