I’m new to Roon and have a question. As I’ve been adding my collection, I’ve notice a number of albums not listed in the Discography of some artists. One example is Harry Connick Jr’s 20 album. I know it exists, and though it may not be able to be streamed, should it not be listed as existing in the Discography? I have other examples too.
Is Roon meant to be a comprehensive wiki of sorts? If so, is there someone that I can flag these albums to so they can be added for completeness?
No it is not a wiki of some sort. As the developers stated, the design goal in this regard is to be a music player. Content unavailable for playback does (usually) not get listed. Examples:
The discography tab is not even there without an active connection to a supported audio streaming service
If you have Roon watching some albums on an external drive and you disconnect that drive the associated albums will disappear in Roon
If an album is on Qobuz but not Tidal and you are connected to Tidal only then Roon will not show you the unavailable (for you with only Tidal subscription) album
Roon (so far) is not intended to be comprehensive. The discography is comprised of the albums which are in your local files and in your streaming services. Others can only be added by adding files to your local library.
But where would it get the full discographies from. MusicBrainz and TiVo are far from complete sources I have added so many albums this year that didn’t exist. Discogs again isn’t a full catalogue.
