I’ve been happily running Roon for years on Windows Server 2012R2.
I tried upgrading to 2.0 and it doesn’t work.
I am struggling to see why this limitation has been introduced. I am not in a position to upgrade my OS.
Is there a workaround?

You can install legacy 1.8
It’s a 10 year old server system and superseded by win server 2016, 2019 and 2022. I know upgrading a server can be a bit of a pain, but if it mostly runs basic windows services, an update should be pretty sleek. Good luck😊
You could run it via docker running a more up to date Linux OS.
It’s sat there so long, I’m almost too scared to touch it
Why would Roon 2.0 be different to what was there before? Is it demanding newer dependencies like .NET or something?
I agree! Don’t touch it. Replace it.
Don’t tell it you’re replacing it though. MSFT learns you’re planning on replacing it and the software will immediately crash in an unrecoverable way.
On a serious note: anything accessing the Internet, even behind a firewall, needs security patches. Something your machine doesn’t support. Time to pull the plug.
Build a NUC.
