When I look at the signal path in Roon I see the last step listed as WiiM Mini Streamer AirPlay2.
I’m running Roon on a NUC with Windows 11, so I don’t see how AirPlay can be involved.
I am using the optical out from the Mini and the USB is plugged into the PC.
I have had a Mac Mini and MacBook on the network in the past, but no Apple machines are currently in use.
What am I missing/not understanding?

As far as I understand it the WiiM mini is not a Roon Ready device. However the WiiM mini is an Airplay device and Roon supports Airplay. Therefore Roon plays to it using Airplay and so this is what is shown in the signal pat.
Roon itself supports AirPlay. It doesn’t rely on the OS it is running on for that.
I’ve owned a WiiM Mini in the past. It has AirPlay. But not Roon Ready nor Chromecast due to insufficient build in RAM.
So with Roon you can only use it as an AirPlay endpoint.
