The Roon user experience for my other family members has been reduced greatly by this bug (a few complaints were hurled in my direction over the Christmas period when we were all at home off work together and enjoying plenty of music) so I hope you don’t mind me enquiring gently as to whether there is any estimated fix date or progress to share for this bug, or whether there is any reference number I could use to look it up on any kind of record system? Thank you
Hi @Matthew_Jobling,
We wanted to reach out to thank you for your patience and persistence. We have a fix in the pipeline that will hopefully have a positive effect on this issue - this fix should merge into an upcoming #earlyaccess release in the next several weeks.
If you’re eager to test the fix, you can migrate your RoonServer to the #earlyacces branch by following these instructions:
You’ll see the announcement in Early Access when the release is ready for updating.
Thanks again!
Thank you and excellent news
I’ll stick to the main/stable release track and wait for the fix to make its way through the early release testing (please let me know when this happens), but thanks for the offer
Hi @Matthew_Jobling,
Of course. We anticipate that the fix should merge into the very next Roon release after a brief testing period in Early Access. We’ll post here when that occurs.
Hello
Any update, please?
Thanks
Hello @Matthew_Jobling ,
It has been some time, but we wanted to check in with you here, are you still seeing this issue at he present time? If so, please let us know, thank you!
Thanks Noris. The issue is still present. All Android and Windows components are on the latest mainstream versions
Reminder of symptoms
I want to be able to wake PC server from Android phone remotely and control music from the Roon PC/server using solely the phone as the control device - typically I want to play music on my Squeezboxes without having to actually physically walk to my PC. When I try to do this, this is what happens:
I wake the PC from my phone using WoL, and the Android Roon software connects successfully to the server, but it detects no audio devices, until I physically walk to my PC/server and unlock it (which these days is via Windows Hello face recognition, but the outcome is the same if I use a password instead). As soon as PC is unlocked, all the audio devices magically appear and are available in the Android Roon software. I’d like to not have to walk to the PC
Reminder that if I instead wake the PC from the PC itself (i.e. using power button on the PC), the symptoms are different! If I do that, the audio devices around the house (Squeezeboxes) become available straight away - it is not necessary to unlock the Windows OS on the PC. The exception to this is the DAC/speakers output on the PC itself - this audio device shows as available and will purportedly let me play music through it, however no actual sound emits from the speakers until I unlock the Windows OS on the server
Is this still on track to be fixed, eventually?
