This thread seems to be slipping into âIâve fallen a little out of love with RoonââŚ
Well if you are using mobile thatâs probably all you read of the title
The best threads are the ones that get derailed!
Probably one of the most egregious and pernicious practises on this forum was the persistent modification of usersâ posts. Far, far worse than deletions. It stemmed from over the top control freakery and a âdo as I say, not as I doâ attitude from senior staffers which trickled down in the moderation culture.
Whether you fell a little out love recently or many years earlier really depends on the level tolerance to swallow or even applaud that direction.
Sheesh, what a fiasco.
This seems to have increased. I had two posts move into newly-created (by mods) threads because they didnât think they belonged or were off-topic. At my workplace, I worked for a department that really stifled diverse ways to express thought, discouraged organic conversation, and really made sure all employees towed a line. I left that department and am now in a more organic one and have watched that old department from the sideline for years now. It isnât a happy place.
I appreciate what the mods do for no payment. It does seem like the most heavy handed approach out of the forums I frequent.
And yet, overall, I do believe these are the forums are among the least annoying that I tend to frequent.
Having two posts moved to a new thread because the very good moderators considered them off-topic for a particular thread doesnât seem the end of the world.
Oh I agree. It is not the end of the world. I canât seem to find where I implied that.
You seemed to equate it to the really poor practice of editing user posts without notice and to a workplace where they âstifled diverse ways to express thought, discouraged organic conversation, and really made sure all employees towed a line.â
I donât think itâs remotely comparable to either.
Yeah. It really doesnât seem worth my time or energy to express myself here. Iâm out.
Not sure what was so terrible about my response. I thought you prefer more permissive forums, I suppose youâve seen worse
Thatâs what is terrible.
@AMT that about sums it up. I get more from focusing on whatâs best in these forums (a lot) than I do from focusing on whatâs worst. Attention to whatâs worst? Maybe a little. But focus? No.
âAnger is an energy.â
Sometimes a bit of anarchy is good fun.
I pee in the bushes, not directly on the flowers
I had a little rant this morning on another threadâŚand I feel a bit better for it
So what is it?
This premise is ok⌠to a point. The main issue I see is that Roon also run their product support from this platform. If users get banned or whatever, no more support.
Roon should really divest support off from the forum. They arenât the cottage industry they were in 2015 and denial of support to paying punters because they copped a ban seems a sketchy model.
You can email Roon and no, they will not accommodate you.
I am in regular contact with a banned user.
Wow yes, they probably never thought of that.
