You seem desperate to point out the bleedinâ obvious, whilst simultaneously missing the fact that people get banned for all sorts of reasons, especially in this place.
Donât know for one second why youâve zeroed in on âabuseâ. Just odd. In fact your replies perfectly encapsulate the smug, âapple for teacherâ attitude that permeates the place at times. Access to support being predicated on that is not healthy. Access to support should come from sending money to Roon for a product and/or service. Not being in your little club.
I just received my eight year anniversary notification and several notifications about replies to this thread, which I initiated over 8 months ago.
My answer to myself is just to accept it as it is, and I use other hi-fi for for some of that camaraderie and humour that I enjoyed here previously and have come to the stage where I drop in here now and again, particularly if I get a software update notice to see if there are a plethora of posts, indicating some issueâ so I suppose I have just come to use the Roon forum primarily as a support forum and when I donât have support issues I generally stay at away.
I realise there are others that get the same enjoyment from the roon forum that I did previously so different strokes, different folks â no one likes change, but for Roon to succeed - â there will be change.
For me, itâs a bit like a crowd of strangers have taken over half my pub and I no longer enjoy it as much but hey I found another pub just down the road thatâs just like Cheers.
Iâd like to learn because it seems like the most harmless thing to me. Jokes can be explained as well - they may then not be funny anymore, but it can be explained where the joke is.

I have requested Roon staff to look into this and reply when possible as this is not my or any Moderators understanding of the situation.
Please a little patience is requested on this one.
Thank you for your cooperation and understanding.
Like a gym or other premises dealing with an abusive member, I agree they should be banned and I mean banned from using the service.
The fact they may have a lifetime membership is their issue if theyâve been abusive, if itâs recorded via email etc itâs proveable.
No one should suffer abuse.
However, I donât agree with post modification without notice, Infact posts probably ought to be flagged and hidden if theyâre so unappealing.
Silent amendments as suggested further up the page should never happen IMO.
Itâs inevitable that mods have to mod, but then it should be clearly marked as such. I believe thatâs what they do, and I think they are generally awesome.
If it really happened that staffers changed posts without leaving a note and thereby changing what users had expressed, then I agree with @Grasshopper and @James_I that this is unacceptable.
Once you have âboughtâ a lifetime, or even a monthly/yearly subscription to Roon, you have entered into a legally-binding contract with Roon.
Just because you âkick offâ on their internet forum/community, wouldnât mean that they could, or even should revoke your user rights to use their software.
I think we need to regard âRoonâ itself, and the forum/community as two-different entities.
I didnât say anything about kicking off.
I gave the example of abuse, itâs an extreme example of the worst type of behaviour possible in a forum, IMO.
No one here is under threat of physical violence after all.
But itâs a generally good natured forum and I like that. I donât do any social media, I find it too negative.
