Hi
Currently showing on all JB Radio2 streams, the following message. “Metadata Service Error ECONNREFUSED”
Is this error caused by the radio station or Roon. Seems okay if I use Naim Audio radio service. Anyone any ideas? Thank you.
It’s probably caused by the radio station changing something.
The Metadata Service was developed by a user (@alec_eiffel ) who no longer posts. Roon incorporated it into their live radio setup but do not do any more development of it as the setup relies on a particular coding for each radio station.
If the API call to get the metadata is no longer valid an error will occur.
It may be that in this case the call failure is only temporary, in which case it should sort itself out. If not, I’ll remove the add-on service from the station.
The error is still there, so I’ve turned off the metadata service for that station for now.
The flac stream now won’t show metadata but the aac stream will. Take your pick…
I’ll monitor from time to time and see if starts working again.
Thank you Brian for your help and assistance What confuses me is the JB Radio2 streams with metadata, are okay when used with Naim Audio radio streams. Do Roon use VTuner? I know Naim had a lot of problems with them and decided to set their own up.
The stations offer two flac streams - one with metadata and one without. The one with works by using OGG flags for beginning and end of tracks together with the metadata. That end flag, EOS, signifies end of stream and Roon interprets this as the end of the radio stream altogether, not just the track. So the audio stops.
Until Roon fixes this we use the non-metadata stream.
