Use the WAF 50 percent price discount on everything. Of course, that only works if you pay all the bills. My wife stopped asking.
Reminds me building my second pair of loudspeakers at around the 80’s. Transmissionline with B139, B110 and T27.
Well the options open to me this far are;
-
put marital bliss on pause for the sake of restoring these to their full splendor
-
accept defeat and sell them
-
possibly the better of both, but some good quality Ls3/a cabinets and crossovers and use the T27 and B110 drivers. A mix of old and new components.
Option 3) intrigues me.
Could I use the SP1004’s crossover with these and using 2 cables from the LF connections, put my Rel subwoofers SpeakOn Neutrik plug on them and low pass filter to the sub for all low end duty.
I’ll dig out the SP1004 crossover specs to see what the LF crossover is.
choose No. 2
Nope, wouldn’t work.
The LF crossover is 400Hz.
Hmm (scratching my head for ideas), a pair of Ls3/a cabinets cost less than a single B139 driver.
Add in a pair of crossovers, ones that match the originals and it’s the same cost as two B139 drivers and great marital bliss.
And where is the fun in that
I just don’t think it’ll be worthwhile and audibly satisfying - wait, maybe as a nearfield desktop system …
