KGSR - Austin City Limits Radio

Found a thread from about three years ago on this, but still trying to figure out whether it can be added…

This URL works from the web, but not from Roon.

This is the old thread

Dear @terzinator :

KGSR-HD2 Austin City Limits Radio appears in Roon’s Live Radio database when I search for KGSR, and both audio streams that are associated with this station in the database are playing in Roon on my end. I do not get any audio if Roon’s Convolution filter is enabled during playback for either stream, however.

Are you having trouble playing or finding this station within Roon, or are you trying to see if a higher-quality stream for this station can be added to the Live Radio database?

Best regards,

RU

interesting. I get no results when searching for KGSR

I did now try “austin city limits radio” and I did get results… hmmm…

yeah, it’s a crappy stream, so if there’s a higher-quality one, that would be great.

thanks

Dear @terzinator :

Are you using the magnifying glass at the very top of the Roon window to initiate your search? (Please see the attached image.)

RU

Dear @terzinator :

I am glad to see that you were able to find the station. One of the Live Radio curators may be able to find and add higher-quality streams to the station’s listening in the database.

RU

FWIW, I also tried searching for KGSR, and was unable to find it directly with KGSR or with using Austin City Limits as search terms. I get the same results as Post #2 above “No stations match…”

Dear @Robert_F :

Are you using the magnifying glass at the very top of the Roon window to initiate your search? (Please see the attached image.) Also, please be sure to submit the search query by pressing the return or enter key on your keyboard; otherwise, Roon displays “No results found” if one types a station’s title that is not saved in one’s local Roon database.

Best regards,

RU

I’m using the My Live Radio search icon, and using the Return or Enter key did not change the results.

Dear @Robert_F :

I do not mean to send you on a wild goose chase, but do you mind trying to initiate your search for KGSR from Roon’s Live Radio section instead of the My Live Radio section? Also, please be sure the magnifying glass icon does not have the word “Filter” to right of it. If the icon has “Filter” to the right, use the other magnifying glass icon near the top-right corner of the Roon window to perform your search, and please be sure to press the return or enter key on your keyboard after typing KGSR in the search field.

Best regards,

RU

P.S. Also, you may want to try performing the search from the Home section of Roon. Again, please be sure to press the return or enter key on your keyboard after typing KGSR in the search field.

No joy on any of the suggestions, still get the “No stations match “KGSR”” error. Under Live Radio I am able to search and find stations that are not included in my “My Live Radio” list, but not KGSR.

weird it shows up for me when I search “kgsr” (note: I did this from the “Home” or “live Radio” or " My live Radio" pages in Roon, it is not added to my Library BTW)

Edit: I added KGSR and kgsr as keywords to the station. Please try now and see if it shows up for you.
As noted make sure you are using the “search”
image
and not the “filter”
image

I wish they had not changed the filter icon it should look like a filter and a magnifying glass…

Edit 2: Ah Ha!! I think I know why searches for KGSR were not working. The name was entered as “KGSR-HD2” so it was probably seeing it as a whole word and not parsing the kgsr separately. It also had 93.3 instead of 97.1 as the frequency.

The Latin KGSR station streams were all garbled so I unlisted them for now.

Dear @Robert_F :

Thank you for your reply, and I do apologize for asking you to jump through so many hoops. If your search result includes “No stations match ‘KGSR’" below it, it sounds as if Roon is still running a filtered search, which is the search that usually occurs when one initiates a search using the magnifying glass icon with the word “Filter” to the right of it. I believe Roon’s global search will display “No results found” when no matches are found using the global search.

I created a short screen recording of this behaviour on my system when I initiate a filtered search followed by a global search for KGSR. (I pressed the return key on my keyboard after the global search reported “No results found” to initiate a full search, which displayed the two station matches.)

Recording

I am sorry that I have not been able to help you.

I was able to find a new stream for the Latin KGSR station and it is up and running.
Let me know if there are any issues.

Dear @bearFNF :

Both stations were appearing in my search results when they were labeled as KGSR-FM Latino 93.3 and KGSR-HD2 Austin City Limits Radio when I searched for KGSR earlier. I believe the 93.3 frequencies are for KGSR’s primary territory, and the 97.1 frequencies are for a repeater/translator in another territory. (Please see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/KGSR.)

I added 93.3 back into the station.
It is strange that there is another station in Austin that is KGSR 93.3 that is Latin. Both of their websites claim 93.3FM, the Austin city limits one also says it uses 97.1 for some programming.

Key here is that both stations seem to be working now.

Thanks,
B

Found it! The video helped a lot, very subtle but it worked. Thank you RU!

Dear @bearFNF :

I believe KGSR’s primary 93.3 FM frequency is broadcasting Latino 93.3, and the 93.3 HD2 frequency is broadcasting Austin City Limits Radio. According to the Wikipedia article, there is or was a third station being broadcast on the 93.3 HD3 frequency called The Party (which is not in Roon’s database). These three stations are licensed to broadcast on KGSR’s respective 93.3 frequencies.

Wonderful news!

@bearFNF , do you mind restoring the names so that there are no gaps before and after the hyphen? @Robert_F, do you mind checking to see if you can still find these stations without the extra spacing?
