I am running ROCK version 2.57 and it works perfectly. Nevertheless want to check if I have the latest version. Roon itself says I have the latest version installed. Yet somehow I think I saw a version 3.something mentioned and it could be that updates of version 2 still appear to provide stability etc. while the latest version with the latest features is 3.something.
So, is there a table somewhere to check the latest versions?
If not, can it be confirmed version 2.something is still the latest and greatest?
None of these links actually point to versions of ROCK. I believe the latest version is 2.1 (depending on whether you use UEFI or not).
That said, the OP probably meant version of Roon.

ROCK refers to the hardware running Roon OS, which also includes Roon software.
Version history is found here.
Scroll down for Roon OS as it isn’t updated very often. Version 2.1 (build 271) is the lastest for UEFI boot. For legacy boot, the version 1 build depends on your hardware, and whether you want to / can switch from legacy to UEFI.
Thanks, indeed my concern is with the ROCK version. I am on RoonOS 1.0 build 259.
So, it somehow updated to this version, but not to build 261.
I think I am running an UEFI version, but it has been years ago I installed it and never looked at it again. How can I verify this?
Question is: why did it stop updating after this. And how can I install RoonOS 2.1 since it apparently does not do it by itself.
RoonOS 1.0 build 259 is the last version of RoonOS that supported BIOS boot.
ROCK is an installer and does not get updated as frequently as other Roon components. This is why installing using ROCK requires an ‘reinstall OS’ as the first step. The ROCK installer, even now, installs an old version of RoonOS and the Roon Server application and the re-install is required as the very first operation to bring the RoonOS version up to the current build 259 (BIOS Boot) or 271 (UEFI Boot) and the Roon Server up to the latest version - before restoring any backup.
If your NUC/RoonOS system will not update RoonOS beyond build 259, then it is almost certainly because you are using a BIOS Boot system and not a UEFI boot system.
The only way to change this is to use the BIOS to change the Boot mechanism to UEFI and then completely re-install using the ROCK installer which will re-partition and re-format the system SSD in your NUC (and, therefore, completely destroy the Roon Database). Thus you need a known working Roon database backup beforehand and you will need to re-install from that backup post install. Any internal SATA SSD installed for library storage should remain unaffected by the ROCK install but, for a belt and braces approach, you could disconnect it first so that the ROCK installer cannot possibly reformat it - this also avoids the possibility of having to correctly identify the system NVME SSD as the target during the ROCK install.
However, at present, if you do not need the Tailscale functionality offered by RoonOS 2.1 build 271 for ARC connectivity, then there is little point. The version and features of the Roon Server application is the same irrespective of the RoonOS version.
Note: Whilst the Tailscale functionality is currently the only reason at present to want to change to UEFI boot, there may be other reasons in the future for wanting to install the latest version of Roonos and thus migrate to UEFI so, if you find yourself reinstalling using the ROCK installer, at any point, for any reason, then you should probably change the boot mechanism to UEFI first.
