I have been so often in England. I never had too much rain, fog in London I never experienced in 30 years, food is not bad at all.
I have the impression you Brits just do not want too many tourists on your beautiful island.
Keep maintaining the rumors about the bad weather.

Many of us love tourists coming in and spending their money and then there are Daily Mail readers 
It’s not that it’s bad weather, just very inconsistent and variable.
You can have sleet, sun, hail, rain, tornado wind force…all in one place in one day.
I remember swimming in the sea at Tenby at Easter and wearing multiple layers in Scotland in July.

I had snow in CapeTown and in Austin Texas. But England was always gentle to me.
I spent a year in and out in Birmingham. From 1998 to 2010 I was at least one day per week in London.
Since then it is only 1 week every 3 month.
Ok, my most north was Edinbourgh and Glasgow.
On the other side if you cross the polar circle (north or south) weather becomes strange.
Oh, sh… I forgot. Well it always rains, food is horrible. They eat strange things. The best you can get is fish and chips.

And those fish and chips can be really really good. I had fish and chips 4 times in the last 8 day’s and they were all fantastic

I remember I went back to do some work in Crewe in about 2011 for 4 weeks and I seriously od on fish and chips…every single night.
That fixed my cravings…lol.
