Yes. I’ve had interruptions and had to do a few things around the house, so I’ve not given this or the others my full attention. A more rounded and accomplished release than I expected.
The latest ones excellent and sounds lovely to boot.
Taking a Power Trip through Nightmare Logic this morning with my coffee
Why did they master this so badly. It’s so tinny and bright and lots of reverb. Reading up on it there is no decent sounding ones at all. This according to Discogs a 2003 remaster can’t find much info on this version and Steve Hoffmans doesn’t mention it.
I really think you should Stop with that Sam Brown stuff though
Just ripped this and listening now, great stuff
That’s the version I have. I think it sounds as intended: great on a transistor radio circa. 1980.
On my system it’s not bright, but it doesn’t have a “big” sound. The mix reminds me of [the production on] an album @Michael_Harris recommended a few days ago; band and vocals recorded simultaneously rather than laying down tracks for each instrument individually.
It’ a good job audiophiles don’t do music reviews as this one would have received 2-stars.
The 2nd CD sounds better so I guess its just he mix/mastering of some tracks. But yes they are thin not much meat on the bones. It had my reaching for the volume instantly on the opening track.
Yes, I know what you mean. It’s like the entire band sits behind the speakers. There’s no wall of sound / soundstage.
Have you tried The Ties That Bind released in 2016? It’s from the original recording sessions.
You bought that Badly Drawn Boy CD yesterday as well
Nope I have not. I have enough Bruce to be getting on with.
Now playing. This was recorded at Parr Street studios in Liverpool, along with many other great records. Parr Street was partially knocked down last week in order to be redeveloped.
Great album that one one of my charity shop bargains.
