Haha. That seems to cost a bit more than your last one. Good luck?
No kidneys left to sell I’m afraid
You still got two lungs?
If you scroll way back up to February you might recall I bought a couple of Esquire/telecaster bodies. Well I’ve been busy fussing and thinking and scheming and of course buying. But today I decided to try my hand at guitar part modification. It involved a router but I’ll save you the suspense but I still have all my fingers.
Both guitars originally came from fender with Paisley pick guards. The Esquire had one but the telecaster did not. I managed to score a second Esquire one on Reverb. I’m thinking of selling the telecaster and figured it needed. An original Picard for best chance of resale.
Before:
During… Couple of YouTube videos. Some double-sided tape and I think I had a rough idea of the task at hand.
Used an original fender pearleroid as a template. Attached it it with some pickguard screws via the drill press. Routed out the neck pickup.
The Paisley motif is screen printed to the back side of a clear pickguard. So I chose to do everything upside down so none of the Paisley silk screening would get scratched
Got rid of most of the plastic with a Fostener bit prior to the router table.
After:
I’m really digging the neck. It’s a '66. Joe Strummer telecaster rosewood version. Great feel.
That looks absolutely frickin awesome.
Way beyond my meagre skill set, I would have made a real pig’s ear of it.
Congratulations, a job very well done!
Awesome job! Looks fabulous.
I went with these as found a good deal on a nos set on fleabay.
Should arrive next week so will be doing the installation and pickguard all at same time.
Question: if you search for a guitar, there is supposedly a way to click and see what a similar guitar bought, but I do not see where that is done.
Has it been over a month without guitar pix?
New to me about 2 hours old
1! 2! 3! 4!
Zero nut is a first on a guitar for me. It’s a really well made, solid guitar. On the glossy/sticky side this summer evening.
This one went for over $900,000 at auction. After a bit of use by me I’m hoping to get around half that. Who wants in at the front of the line for $50K?
2008 '62 AVRI Strat (left) to go with my Mexican Classic 50’s Lacquer (with Black Strat pickups). Two beautiful, but quite different Strats . Both have vintage necks, vintage frets, and vintage hardware.
Giving that base a workout?
The wife “decided” that my expensive guitars need a better home in the new house, who am I to argue

You are going to buy it AFTER you move right? And not, buy it and then have to move it too?
I’m not buying anything, it’s her idea so she can buy it😁.
No guarantee she will think of that though at all😯
Just hanging out listening to music. Glanced over at my guitar in the wall. The camera saw this… nothing too significant.
My minds eye saw this…much better. What does that say about reality vs perception? Or cropping
Four topics:
a. There is a YouTube of Joe Bonamassa touring gear. All of his amps, guitars and effects are original even though there are modern day equivalents.
b. In the video of Hendrix’s Woodstock “VooDoo Chile…” He uses only a wah-wah and a Fuzz Face…all just having become available. Compare that to Bonamassa’s rig.
c. This is a good review of the history of Pink Floyd, and the fine nuances of the roots of each and the cause for the division. Gilmour is seen as among the top guitarists of our time and has never limited himself to just the band but to other genres and artists.

d. PRS has released their 2025 SE models. These Indonesian guitars represent an impressive value, the SE models approaching the Core models at 25% of the price.
