I’m using the Linn Selekt DSM-KA. In the Mr./Ms. rate conversion of the Roon app, when converting a FLAC song to “DSD”, a “click” noise occurs at the beginning of the song. Sometimes there is noise while the song is playing, which is very unpleasant.
I’m looking for a solution.
I went through the details of my DS settings on the UK Linn account site. When I checked the item “Roon protocol”, it was set to “Roon Ready”, and when I changed this to “Linn Streaming”, the noise stopped.
The Roon protocol is able to select “Roon Ready” and “Linn Streaming”, and it seems that the initial setting has changed to “Roon Ready” by performing a firmware update.
Please let me know if there is a way to prevent noise from appearing in “Roon Ready”.
Roon’s RAAT transmission has clear sound quality, so we want to use it in Roon Ready.

After speaking with a Linn representative, I learned the following.
The Linn DS is now Roon Ready, and Linn has created and distributed firmware to support Roon’s RAAT protocol.
However, the firmware was not distributed to my early model Linn Selekt DSM.
As a result, my DS, which had not been updated, produced noise.
Linn contacted me to say that their engineers are currently developing firmware to support the early model,
but I am very dissatisfied with Linn’s response.
I purchased the Linn Selekt DSM-KA in August 2020, and even though it has not yet been four years since then,
it was classified as an old early model and was abandoned in the firmware development.
The Linn DS has a five-year warranty, and Linn’s response during this warranty period raises questions about Linn’s attitude toward customers.
