Looking for "focus" solution: Grouped albums vs. Show hidden tracks and albums

Hi
I know, that some other aspect of this issue has already been discussed, but I would like to bring my aspect of the matter to attention.

To have a cleaner display, I group my albums and only show the primary version via deactivating the library option “Show hidden tracks and albums”. I usually set the best quality stereo version of any album to be the primary version.

But doing so, I cannot find any other versions of that very album via “focus” - I just cannot filter out versions with another file format, bit depth, sampling frequency or channel count of those grouped albums. These version just do not get represented via their various attributes in the displayed “selectors” in focus.
One example: Main album is stereo 96kHz flac. I also have a .dsf version in stereo and 5.1, plus the 44.1 stereo rip from the original CD. Can’t find the 5.1-version, since in focus, only 2.0 channels would be displayed as a selectable option at all - no indication, that there is a 5.1 version at all!

Yes, I can change that by activating the library option “show hidden tracks and albums”, but then I get a cluttered display of ALL versions existing of ALL albums in my main album view. Don’t want that.

So the problem comes down to the fact, that Roon views grouped albums as “duplicates”. So, going back to my "uncluttered hide hidden tracks and albums "-display, I need to first set the focus to “duplicates” to see all possible existing variations of the albums in my collection in terms of other selectable focus options like multichannel, bitdepth, file format etc.

So: is there a way / would it make sense from Roon’s database perspective to “decouple” grouped albums from the “duplicates” focus without getting a cluttered main album view? Or would that lead to other effects or limitations, that are unbeknownst to me?

I feel that it might come from Roon conflating “hidden” and “grouped”, and I agree it’s bad here and in other contexts. So yeah, I agree it should be decoupled.

For one, it makes poor UI in the Settings because it is not at all clear that “Show hidden …” = No means grouped just like “Group alternate versions” in the album editor. And I may hide tracks and albums for other reasons, and if I want so surface them, it forces me to ungroup.

Probably, but that’s for Roon Labs to figure out
