Looks like Auralic is no more

Pay me? No why would they pay me? It was like $10. It’s not their fault that intel created defective card. They made if right with the software patch.

This is very disappointing. I have an Auralic Altair which I’ve been very pleased with. I was just checking around to see if I have the latest firmware update to enable direct Qobuz connectiion. Fortunately it’s still working fine with Roon.

When I hear things like that I always ask myself are “premium” brands with such high prices really worth the money if their device quality regarding software and hardware is rather subpar.
Just asking why do such premium devices break at all…?
Today’s electronics, if chosen and assembled wisely, last for decades. Same with software.
Why do “premium” brands tend to show issues you rather don’t hear of from non-premium brands?

I agree that high priced premium brands should be better with quality control, but in this case Auralic did exactly what you would expect - they purchased a WiFi card from Intel. Not an off brand. They could not have anticipated that Intel would sell a defective card. But they stepped up and offered a solution. Other brands would gaslight you or shrug their shoulders. Btw most of the cards went defective after a few years. Auralic introduced the fix after the warranty period ended.

Things happen. I just expect brands to step up and offer solutions. Remember the “Ring of Death” from the Xbox 360? Remember the PS3 having issues as well? Those companies did nothing except quietly put out new models and force their customers to upgrade. My Aries Femto still works well and even received updates as of a year ago that the G-Series was getting. I bought mine near 10 years ago. Other brands don’t support their legacy gear even one day after they don’t need to. Look at how KEF abandoned the LS50 Wireless 1 when they introduced the Wireless 2. They put a brand new app that didn’t work with the Wireless 1. Devialet stopped offering updates to their Expert Pro models in favor of the Astra series.

No Qobuz Connect?

IMO Auralic priced themselves out of business. They had excellent products but their prices went through the stratosphere well before tariffs.

I have a pair of KEF LS50 Wireless 1’s that i bought years ago . My remote went defective and they sent me a new one … for free. There is still a KEF app that works with the original wireless LS50’s so I wouldn’t say KEF has abandoned the 1’s

Upscale Audio in SoCal put their entire Auralic inventory “on sale”. That reduced the regular price by 15-20% and I’m sure the used prices will reflect that as well. I have an Altair G2. Great product. It works until it doesn’t.

I noticed that Upscale put the Auralic on sale. When I was looking for a streamer, I talked to them. They steered me away from Auralic and thought I’d like the Aurender N20. I would buy the Aurender, but that’s way above my budget being that I plan to retire next year. I’m getting a little more frugal with age and went with an Eversolo T8. It sounds great to me.

They did mention that they didn’t know what was going to happen with Auralic. That was before they ceased trading.

They do not want Auralic in trade and said the T8 is in high demand and short supply.

I have the N200. In the words of the Aurender rep, it’s the sweet spot in terms of performance and budget. $7K.

I thought about the N200 as well. They look like really nice units. The ability to stream Apple Music natively in high resolution was the big selling point for me. I only listen to Apple Music sporadically but much prefer the ability to listen natively rather than using Airplay.

Thanks to having owned a HiFi Rose RS130, I bought a lifetime subscription to Roon. I can’t live without Roon or ARC! Sold the RS130 but glad I bought Roon.

I bought my T8 before they could think about raising the price on it! Even with the sale prices they have on their current inventory, they will sit. I’m so happy I didn’t buy one.

I also have two non-Roon Ready Aurenders (A10 and N100SC). Roon will only function with them via Airplay, but the native Aurender Conductor app makes good music on the old models.

Amazon had quite a few T8’s yesterday but is almost sold out today.

No more firmware updates for my Auralic Aries G2.1. Does it makes a difference that i use Roon instead the native Lighting app from Auralic? I’m afraid that one day the Auralic is useless instead of lossless

You should not worry about still using your very good sounding Aries G2.1 streamer with Roon. No new future sw updates from Auralic will have no impact on your RAAT certificated Aries endpoint. Other “old” devices (like Oppo 205) without any new sw since 2018 still works perfect with Roon. I have an Auralic Altair G2.2 and 95% of the use are with Roon and will still be…
