Anybody know if Lumin would consider offering a standalone DAC? I’m a very happy U1 owner who wishes he bought an X1
I have 2 D1’s and a D2 and while I would love an X1 I’m not sure what it has to do with a stand alone DAC…there are plenty of DACs you can connect to a U1 or U1mini or the T2, S1 or X1.
Lumin’s forte is in streaming and while many models do have a DAC internally too I somehow don’t see them going down the already saturated DAC only route.
Some dealers (not us) accept trade-in.
Yes, that’s what mine says. Just thought I’d ask if a standalone dac was in Lumin’s future as another upgrade path for standalone streamer e.g. U1 users.
Yes, I’m aware of that. I do quite like the dac I currently have but the thought of a separate dac based on the one inside the X1 might be a nice upgrade option for those who use the U1, U1 mini etc. But I suspect you are right re the already saturated dac market plus as Peter mentioned, some dealers provide a trade-in option.
I would love a standalone DAC too. Something FPGA and in the current classis.
P1 Mini and P1 (with a variety of digital and analog inputs) can be used as standalone DAC, in addition to network streaming.
I wouldn’t consider that as they are great units in their own right and would be a waste. I would like a fpga dac in a U2 chassis that is fully controlled by the U2s USB output (or any roon certified transport).
I know its not offered currently but figured it was worth asking/suggesting.
Edit - Leedh volume control would work great, as long as the dac doesnt send any pops or noise, blowing my tweeters. This would reduce its use case with other streamets though.
