Lumin X1 P-series U-series T3X T3 T2 D3 support Qobuz Connect in Firmware 19. If your Lumin unit has Tidal Connect, it will have Qobuz Connect feature after this firmware update.
However, this is not usable until Qobuz app is updated to version 9 in the future to support this feature. Qobuz app 8.6.x and before does NOT support Qobuz Connect. Even if you have the correct version, you may still need to wait for this feature to be globally released by Qobuz and enabled for everyone.
Please wait for official announcement from Qobuz.
Lumin Qobuz Connect plays gapless as Lumin Tidal Connect does.
We also have proprietary enhancements for additional buffering, as well as Qobuz Connect discovery, so it should hopefully be easier to discover Lumin in Qobuz app than competing devices.
Still, if you have trouble discovering Qobuz Connect device, please follow this troubleshooting guide to Qobuz Connect Discovery.
Make sure you have a required Lumin model for Qobuz Connect: X1 P-series U-series T3X T3 T2 D3
Make sure you’re running Lumin Firmware 19 or later
Make sure Qobuz Connect setting is turned on in Lumin app (with the latest Lumin app version)
Make sure your Qobuz app is version 9 or later. Qobuz app 8.6.x and before does NOT support Qobuz Connect.
On Qobuz app device:
Disable Firewall, especially on desktop
Disable VPN. On Apple systems, uninstall all VPN apps (not only disable)
On Apple systems, disable Limit IP Address Tracking
Grant all permissions required by Qobuz app, especially Local Network on Apple systems
Swipe away Qobuz app
On Android, then Force Stop Qobuz app
Go into Flight mode (preferred), or turn off WiFi
Exit from Flight mode, and resume WiFi
Wait for WiFi connection
Launch Qobuz app
On Lumin app:
If you are having Qobuz Connect discovery trouble, turn off Lumin Streaming (AirPlay) and Tidal Connect.
Turn off Qobuz Connect, wait for a few seconds, then turn it back on
If it still doesn’t work, wait for a minute, then power cycle the Lumin hardware
If all else fails, re-enable Lumin Streaming (AirPlay) and Tidal Connect. Check that your network infrastructure supports these discovery protocols using iOS AirPlay feature, and Tidal app (requires a paid Tidal account).
Especially if you have multiple Lumin devices, rename the Lumin device(s) to something different
Dear.Peter, i had Qobuz connect working dor the first time on my D3 yesterday with the updated Qobuz beta app v 9.0. It sounded well but I heard some cracks like on vinyl! Weird. Yesterday evening Qobuz turned the Connect suppprt off. Hope it will be available again without the cracks soom.
Regards Fransbert Schermer from the Netherlands.
Hi Peter. I installed the firmware update you send me on my D3 and the cracks are gone! I test this with a 24bit/192kHz track. Open Qobuz I have the feeling Qobuz sounds even better now with the Connect function in place, can this be true? I compare with the great sounding new vinyl record and it comes close. In the past I used Qobuz mostly via Roon (server on my PC) and that sound not as good. Thanks for your support. If i can help you to test things you are always welcome. Jus one question: do you think a SBooster power upgrade will make a big difference on a D3?
Regards,
Fransbert Schermer
I’m trying Qobuz Connect on my X1. Sounds quite good! Not sure about differences vs Lumin app and Roon, but many thanks for this additional flexibility.
A member in a competitor forum (the manufacturer is on the long list but has not released Qobuz Connect firmware at the time of this post) commented that Lumin release of Qobuz Connect “has to be in beta”.
That’s not true. Lumin firmware 19.0 has Qobuz Connect SDK 1.0 official release, as shown in Lumin app About hardware. This SDK version is not considered to be a beta release by Qobuz.
I also checked several major competitors on the list for their firmware release, but …
Another LUMIN customer recommended this to me for converting playlists. You connect your services (Spotify/TIDAL/Qobuz/Deezer/Apple/Amazon/etc) to this service and then it converts playlists between them.
Free is limited to one playlist at a time and 200 tracks per playlist, but if someone was just moving services, it would only cost a single month to convert everything in one hit. I used it to convert some good Spotify playlists to TIDAL without any problems.
So for LUMIN users, as long as your playqueue is saved back to the TIDAL or Qobuz servers, it will be available for conversion (and then show up in the ‘my music’ section).
I’ve only used it briefly so it’s not a full endorsement, but you can start for free and I’d be interested in anyone’s feedback.
I saved a few Lumin-app created playlists as you described (save to Tidal) and then transferred them via Soundiiz to Qobuz. Worked as you advertised! Thanks!
