Would it be possible in a future release to expose the lyrics (+ time offsets) via the API? I’ve been digging around the payloads vended to the Web Display, and it looks like the lyric+offset data is available there in the LyricsChanged response. For extra credit, the WaveformChanged data might be fun to play with as well!
I do not know for sure, I’m not a Roon employee, but, when it comes to Lyrics, there are licensing and contractual use issues that have nothing to do with technical implementation.
I’d assumed that would likely be the reason why it can’t be done! The use case I had in mind was something similar to the existing web display, but with simple media controls added, for use on a raspberry pi: I really like the lyrics display, which is what’s preventing me from using an existing solution.
