Maintaining tag and playlist entries for upgraded media

May someone please enlighten me on how Roon handles tags and playlists when members are replaced by upgraded versions? In an ideal world, I’d like to keep the members in the corresponding tag / playlist and have them point to the paths of the upgraded quality albums. I’m assuming this would be easiest if the upgraded album is first added to the library before the lower quality duplicate is removed.

Here’s a scenario:

  1. I have an old low quality mp3 album that I’ve added to several tags and playlists
  2. I finally purchased an updated lossless version of the album
  3. To avoid duplicity / maintain efficient storage I want to delete the old version. However, I’d like to keep the album’s entries in existing tags and playlists and have those point to the upgraded album. Is this possible?

No it is not. Tags and playlist point to a specific object. Your mp3 version snd higher res versions are two different objects.
