Hello. The MC 8900 is Roon tested. Can I control the volume via the app?
Many thanks & kind regads
Yes so long as you configure your zone to be able to. That said, it will still be relative to the top volume you have dialed into your amp.
If you wish to have full range volume control via the app, you will have to hook your DAC up as if it’s a preamplifier, removing the jumpers on the back of your 8900 via the instructions. Be careful to understand that you will need to be cautious and vigilant about your Roon Remote’s volume, however, lest you blow your speakers out!!
Hello, many thanks for your reply. So it means it is not the 8900 volume control, it’s the volume of an dac or endpoint pre the 8900?
Did I understand it correct?
Depends on if McIntosh have implemented volume control over USB or not and if it’s uses standard protocol for USB HiD that Roon would need. Speak to McIntosh to get a definitive answer. It’s more than likely that it is fixed level as the preamp is a analogue and you will need to do it on the amp or use Roons DSP volume if your connecting a pc direct to it via the USB in.
