It seems like the Roon app (Version 2.0 build 1365) running on Mac OS Monterey version 12.7 has a memory leak. When started the app allocates approx. 500Mb but over time this grows to +2Gb.
Maybe this is triggerede by taking the macbook to environments, where the app looses access to the Roon Core, but still I don’t think this app behaviour is acceptable.
Generally speaking, over the last few versions, RAM usage on my Mac mini M1 seems to be fairly stable. It does go up at times, but then goes down again. I’m not sure what triggers the decrease, but running a backup often seems to flush the RAM to a lower level.
In your case, does the RAM usage keep increasing, or does it stabilise at around 2GB? If it’s the latter, this may well be normal behaviour, i.e. the more you use the app the more likely it is that data will be brought into RAM and not always released.
Memory leaking on Mac OS app is a problem for me too.
Roon launches with just under 600 MB consumed.
In a few hours, it will be consuming > 1.25 GB.
