I had commenced saving and editing files on a new HDD but changed my mind and decided to squeeze them into HDDs already in use.
If the file is transferred via Windows explorer all editing will be lost so that was not a good option. What does work is to export the file (using that function in Roon) from one HDD to the next. All editing, except star ratings is transferred over with the only negative being that any pdf digital booklet is not part of the export. So, if considered important (I do) it is necessary to copy the pdf file out of its old location to the new one with the rest of the album using Windows explorer. Yes it is time consuming but takes less time that going through the whole editing process all over again.
