I only have few mp3 files, but the play fine. I’m very happy with ROCK.

I think ffmpeg should enable playback of mp2 also - but it’s possible that it might need to be explicitly enabled when the library is compiled…

I think you are right - pretty sure I would transcode to flac too - might be safer in the long run!

mp2 files are currently not a supported format. I would recommend also posting your suggestion in the Feature Request section of the site.

Our product team and developers keep a close eye on that category, so that’s definitely the best place to propose a change like this and get feedback from the Community.
