Ok multichannel music fans, what are some of your favorite multichannel albums? Here’s a handful of mine

Hmmm…I know there are some other multichannel music fans out there.
Well this thread turned out to be a dud.
I discovered multichannel music recently. My newest Roon endpoint had HDMI-OUT which I connected to my Rotel RSP1576 Surround PreAmp. Although I allways was a Stereo listener… some multichannel music really impresses me!
I hope multichannel music from Tidal will soon be available via Roon!
Done right, multichannel music sounds fantastic! ![]()

So far only discrete 12ch DXD Tuvayhun can satisfy my ears and brain.
One more attempt to revive this thread. ![]()

Very cool! Do you listen to the downmixed Atmos 7.1 track?
Another current release which I really like:
Although I allways was a Stereo listener… some multichannel music really impresses me!
There are lots of astonishing mixes out there on BD, DVD-A or SACD and some even on streaming services. Even a lot for stereo-lovers as they utilize rear channels mainly for ambience and reverb. Especially lots of classical and jazz stuff on SACD follow a more traditional take on multichannel.
I just have a 5.1 system. Still, it sounded great to me. ![]()

Reviving this old thread…again ![]()
Today I came across this website that has a great list (and user reviews) of multichannel music recordings. There’s a lot of good stuff in there. ![]()
I’m looking forward to hearing a few titles I was able to find/order today. ![]()

Ripping and setting these up for Roon is a challenge. DARE has 65 track options and Age of Consent has 177! Simply ripping them each as its own album would make them quite unwieldly to navigate in Roon.
I managed to wrangle DARE over the past couple nights (lots of manually entering metadata!), essentially creating 2 albums, one multichannel and one 2 channel, with each album containing 2 “discs”.
I need to decide if I want to do the same with Age of Consent as it will be a much bigger project. If I include all track options (ie all mixes for each track), I’ll end up with two albums: album 1 containing 104 tracks over 4 “discs” and album 2 containing 73 tracks over 3 “discs”.
I could reduce the work needed for Age of Consent by not including all the available mixes (Atmos, DTS, 2024 2 channel, Original 1984 2 channel). Perhaps I’ll listen to the disc first (via my BD player) to see if I really want all mixes available in Roon.
Sorry for the sidetrack (had to get that out, lol). Back to our regularly scheduled program. ![]()
I have about 110 5.1 titles that I play from my Nucleus One via HDMI to Denon x2800 AVR out to my Klipsch towers with matching center, L/R Klipsch surrounds and a big 'ole SVS sub.
Favorite? Maybe Sympathy For The Devil by the Stones. Or Abbey Road. Or A Black and White Night by Roy Orbison. Or Workingman’s Dead. Or The Last Waltz by The Band. Or …?
Lol, I have lots of favorites as well! It’s impossible to pick just one.
BTW, I finally got a chance to listen to my recent acquisitions I posted earlier (Howard Jones, The Human League, Bronski Beat).
IMHO, the Howard Jones BDs are better mixed/mastered than the Human League and Bronski Beat titles from SDE (which aren’t bad, just not as good).
My favorites change from week to week. ![]()
