Multiple Images and Tagging Order

Hello everyone,

Recent subscriber to Roon and I am really loving using it, but I’ve ran into two minor issues I believe could be “fixed” through software updates so I thought I’d share.

One Roon does not seem to respect the order I am tagging artists on a track and sorting them alphabetically. This is mainly a problem when I browse my album library. For Hip Hop rapper/producer collab albums I like to always tag the rapper first and the producer second. Roon will not respect this and for example the new Raz Fresco and DJ Muggs album I would like to show up sorted as Raz Fresco, DJ Muggs and not DJ Muggs, Raz Fresco like Roon defaults to. I’m not sure how feasible this would be or if someone already has a work around, if so please let me know!

The second issue I am just bringing up again to keep the attention on it, Roon’s support for multiple images for one album is slightly lacking. I like to do a lot of crazy things with tagging embedding both sides of the gatefold on each half of the album embedded in the files and saving the actual cover in the folder. I saw in the recent community post by the founders that this may be coming sooner than later, but I’d thought I’d bring it up just to let them know there are users who are really looking forward to it.

Sorry if I made any faux pas, this is my first post.

There are some rules for image and pdf files in the album folder. I dunno about tagged images

Yes the back cover support works well enough for me, and I really like the “Has PDF” filter that got me to go back to a few booklets. The problem is really with how it’s treating embedded images. I’d like the ability to show the embedded image when playing the track and the cover I have saved in the folder for the cover in the library view. I know Foobar is able to do this.

The problem of ordering Rapper/Producer Hip-Hop tags is identical to the problem of ordering Soloist/Orchestra/Conductor Classical tags. Roon doesn’t do this either. There are feature requests going back many years.

The workaround is to go to the Album editor and edit the artist order how you want it. From the album page you want to reorder:

three dots → Edit → Edit Album → Scroll down → Edit Album Artist

Thanks I’m glad I’m not the only one having this issue. This works well enough I guess, but I still wish Roon was smart enough to recognize this or be able to respect my tag order. Just going to have to take the time to do it in Roon I guess.
