Music Discovery: "recommended for you" = "similar artists"

I run roon 2.0 only with files I own (no streaming). I noticed “Similar Artists” at bottom of artist page, which mostly contains artists already in my collection. Searching for how “Similar Artists” works, I found in older threads also a reference to “recommended for you”, which I cannot find anywhere in roon 2.0. Is “Similar Artists” the new version of “recommended for you”?

Similar artists sems very myopic and not much new music to discover. Am I missing something?

Also with a bunch of artists, there is no “similar artists”, particularly with artists that have no artist icon: Bedless Bones, Ohne Nomen, /A, A Cloud of Ravens, and Stridulum as some newer artists, but also with older bands such as Cords, The Breeders (!!!), Helms, or Siglo XX (!!!). I guess about half the artists have no icon. I admittedly listen to weird minor stuff, but Breeders and Siglo XX are really not that obscure. Again, is my set-up faulty, or is the roon meta database limited to major acts? Or does it take roon forever to catch on? Bedless Bones and Stridulum are regularly (and justifiably) listed as top darkwave/goth/coldwave bands, and have been out for the past 3-5 years.

Just wondering whether I am doing something wrong, or whether the discovery features of roon are poorly developed.

“recommended for you” requires a streaming service

Both, truth be told.
