This has always been the way to some degree, labels get rich while only the really big artists made good money from sales. It does feel as if they’ve squeezed the artists even more through streaming contracts. The pressure from Covid on live performances has eroded the only realistic income stream for most artists. Bandcamp feels a little fairer and I try to use it for purchases whenever possible now.
