My HQPlayer settings, an fyi

Here’s what I wanted to get from HQ Player.

  1. All PCM files upsampled to my DAC’s limit…384khz.
  2. All DSD files left alone (my DAC does native DSD up to 512)

I’m using the McIntosh MA12000. This setup seems to work fine. It’ll take a little more listening to comment on SQ. My setup is a SonicTransporter i5 gen3 and an UltraRendu which is plugged into the DAC via USB.

The only trouble I’ve run into so far is that when the music stops playing, the unit doesn’t automatically power off after 30 minutes. It did that prior to HQ Player and I kinda liked it.

My next task is to compare this configuration to another where all PCM gets converted to DSD128. My SonicTransporter peters out at DSD256. CPUs are maxed and I get lots of dropouts.

Maybe this will be helpful for some and maybe others will have a constructive comment. I’ve read the manual a few times and fully expect that the setup could be improved by changing a setting or two. Please don’t confuse me for an expert in HQ Player setup.

I think you’ll get more traction here: Which HQP Filter are you using? - #1119 by dabassgoesboomboom

Have to uncheck the Direct SDM box for upsampling.
