NAS vs Roon on Windows Server

I am using a Synology server with a ROON installation. Working well however, I presume the GA releases on the server would be more current. I would like to hear from users who have used both implementations about any advantages of one over the other.

On Synology, it is an App with my library on the NAS, so no other ‘server’ is needed. I do feel possibly I could miss out on the refresh cycles from the executable application on Windows or MacOS.

It seems to me that the Roon server on my Synology updates with every new Roon release so far…

Agreed it does, the only exceptions are when Roon release an emergency patch that’s OS specific but these are quite rare … and there’s no question of “missing out”.
