Need Help on HQ Player Settings please all help me

Hi Stephen here again. Please tell me what is the best HQ player settings. I am using latest Roon Software and streaming qobuz music and also playing music on my hard drive wav files with Roon. Here are the Specs of my PC.

I am also upsampling everything with HQ player to 786/32 my DAC can do this with no problems. Please help with best settings. My DAC IS Sony TA-ZH1ES Headphone Amplifier with DA-Hybrid Amplifier Circuit. Also I like PCM sound only not DSD what you think of my settings?

What is your DAC?

My DAC is this $2300 sony one. Sony TA-ZH1ES Headphone Amplifier with DA-Hybrid Amplifier Circuit

Run it always at DSD256 from ADSM7EC-light/super modulators. Or ASDM7ECv3 if you wish.

With oversampling filter of your choice. There are some suggestions and information in the manual about these. But the default ones are a good starting point.

I dont like DSD Sound Like PCM sound Only. here are my HQ player settings please respond what needs to be changed.

Why do you ask then if you don’t want to hear the answer?

I already answered, set Default Output Mode to SDM and the settings I stated.

PCM is not native language of your DAC.

Ok took your advice thanks. Now what do I do with these settings please what should be checked and changed please tell me

That is up to your preferences. Since output mode is SDM, the PCM stuff doesn’t matter.

My current recommendation is SDM Integrator = FIR2 and SDM Conversion = XFi.

Hey, thanks for all the help really man thanks. In your software, I do 48x256 44.1x256 and it does not playback and skips why is this? Should I select a lower number

First check that you have latest Nvidia Studio or Game Ready drivers installed, depending if you do gaming on the machine or not.

For starters, set 1x Oversampling Filter to the default poly-sinc-gauss-long. The Nx filter is already at default. You can adjust these later once the baseline is functional.

Try with/without CUDA offload checked. Also try with Multicore DSP set to greyed and checked.

Your CPU should be fine up to DSD512 output rate.

Hey, Stephen here okay what about DSD and my setting below?
What do you think of them all? What should be changed and what should not be changed for DSD? Do my 1X and Nx SDM filters look like a good choice? Or would you change them to what each one? Please respond thanks

You can try non-EC or 7EC-light modulator first. Modulator is very CPU intensive. You have to try which modulator you can run smooth. After that then begin to try LPF to find which LPF is your favorite. Don’t mix or reverse the steps.

The 1x oversampling filter is single stage and doing 256x ratio between rate families with such is rather heavy. So I suggest to try another variant of the same that has “-2s” at the end. It is much lighter to process.

Hey thanks for getting back to me. What do you think of these settings. I have no problem with my roon account and using these settings. The streaming music never skips or buffers. Respound if these are good or should be changed? Also my sony Headphone amp can only do 256 DSD not 512 I called them and asked. Please Respond on my new settings choices?

Yes, it looks fine and it is good if it works and you like it!
