Need help!

I used Ropieee about a year hassle free on Raspberry PI 4B 8G with 5" touch lcd display connected with MIPI port, however, after latest update I noticed that display not working after reboot. It was working as ROON endpoint with connected DAC through USB but with black display. I reflashed MicroSD card with freshly downloaded image but ended with 7 blinking green led. Now, I tryed 5 different SD cards, two different PC’s to make this cards. I tryed flash cards with RuFus, Balena and Raspberry PI Imager all latest versions, downloaded on two different PC’s to exclude corrupted downloads. I can use any other OS (Ubuntu, Raspberry, DietPI, Volumio, Kodi and everything that Raspberry PI
Imager can propose), however, every time I installing Ropieee it gives me 7 green blinks. I waited 1 hour every time after first boot with Ropieee with network cable connected - only coloured display and 7 blinks. I downloaded ALL images that was on Ropieee website even for RPI3 and RPI5 large and compressed (image for RPI3 gives 4 green blinks that indicates about vrong platform, image for RPI5 gives same result as RPI4). Tryed newest and default RPI bootloader through RPI OS with no luck. Is there any one with the same problem? Thank you

@Maksym_Sokolov which update channel are you on? Stable or beta?

It was beta

And that is your issue. He’s working on this exact set up. Read the whole thread if you want, or revert to stable…

Great, thank you very much! I will read.

It’s still unclear to me what the problem is.

Which version are you running?
Does it install from scratch?
Which update are you trying to run?

The beta program is just that: beta. Which means that things break. If you don’t like that, go back to stable.

So please be clear which version you are running, what exactly goes wrong.

Furthermore you are talking about a 5" screen: that’s not supported by RoPieee.

Thanks

@spockfish this is the same as me from our private discussion.

@Michael_Harris shared an older version from 2024 with me. The same occurs.

Yep, me

But the OP has said he’s flashed a fresh version from Ropieee’s website, so not beta.

I’m having the exact same issue.

7 rapid flashes states the kernel image is either missing or corrupt.

The fact the OP and I have managed to flash other OS’s and boot successfully confirms the SD Cards and methods used are correct.

Still my question is not answered: which image is being used?

@spockfish I think @Maksym_Sokolov has mentioned he’s flashed a freshly downloaded image and has got a RPi4B and has tried all the images for RPi3/4 & 5. He’s getting 7 rapid flashes like myself.

This still tells me not which version is used.

For me

ropieeexl_ose_pi4-2025.2.0-stable.20250221.2167.bin.xz

And

ropieeexl_ose_pi4-2025.2.0-stable.20250221.2167.bin

Both give the same result of 7 rapid flashes

Can you try this one?

https://image.ropieee.io/ropieeexl_ose_pi4-2025.4.0-beta.20250411.2339.bin

Thanks Harry

I’ll be a few mins :+1:

Update:

Good news @spockfish that works

Many thanks

Just finishing up installation now

I’ll buy you a good number of coffees again :+1:

But PlexAmp isn’t working on that Beta.

Feedback: ef0d6687e801c923

I can get my claim code and input it, apply, configure. Once done, if I hit the open PlexAmp webpage button it doesn’t. Even typing it manually doesn’t open the correct page.

Update: it worked in the end on my Android phone in Chrome, by Safari on my iPhone it didn’t.

Cheers Harry :+1:

Thank you all for your help. As @Johnny_Ooooops pointed me to the right topic, “BETA Release 2025.03,” I downloaded and flashed “https://image.ropieee.io/ropieeexl_ose_pi4-2025.4.0-beta.20250410.2338.bin,” and everything is back to normal. There are no more 7 green blinks, and the display is working again. Before, I tried with “ropieeexl_ose_pi4-2025.2.0-stable.20250221.2167.bin,” and there was the problem.
