Why is it that some albums (especially forthcoming releases) are in Apple Music but not in Tidal. Is this an artist choice or a failing of Tidal. I notice this a lot when apple release a forthcoming album with several tracks available to play immediately, yet these tracks do not appear in Tidal unless they are also released as a single.
An example of this is the Forthcoming Riley Green release Way Out Here. Apple Music has three tracks available but Tidal only has the single “Worst Way”.
Qobuz has 3 tracks. So Yes it down to the contractual agreements between labels and the service, which is why music can be on one service then disappear in the space of a week. I dont think Tidal do albums as prereleases anway like these services do, I find it annoying that they do, I would rather it just be a single and leave the album unitl its out.
Good to know. I totally agree, I would rather see the album get a full release rather than being dripped out. This seems a particular trait of country artists. What I do like about the Apple Music approach though, is I can add it to my library when I am made aware of its release and when the release date drops Apple will notify me it is available.
It’s a trait of all artists due to the streaming format. Dripped out releases allows the artist to stay in the current feeds longer than a one time pop for an album release.
Take Peter Gabriel who released one track a month for nearly a year before dropping the entire album.
