Are you sure about that? I don’t have CG-NAT on my Spectrum connection.
I found this just,
It’s very useful reading
Wade you are correct, I think the static IP at extra cost is now essential if any remote access of servers of any kind is required may they be web servers music servers of any kind.
Just for info, tailscale cannot be implemented on my innous server unlike a new roon core, a remote node wpukd have to be employed, I’m going to investigate a static IP from my new optical fibre supplier to bypass multiple nat issues. Wish me luck !
Yes, Spectrum uses Carrier Grade NAT (CG-NAT). There is no way to opt out of CGNAT for Spectrum.
The public IPv4 address provided by Spectrum is a shared IP belonging to a node behind a CGNAT based network .
The modem is Netomnia, I have yet to find a UI let alone access it,
It appears to convert the optical input cable and does it’s thing making optical fast things happen, flashing green leds etc ( red if your unlucky )
Anyways recent research has been enlightening - static IP needed
Does not seem to be accurate for all Spectrum addresses. My IP is not on a NAT.
