The new Node ICON looks sweet. Balanced out, PC and analogue input, dual mono DACs.
I’m on the waitlist.

No mention of Roon support for any of them which is unusual.
I saw a Roon Ready badge when I clicked through to the Nano’s order page
I also saw that DSD support is coming with a software update
I missed that bit just read all the blurb where it wasn’ mentioned of even coming by update. I’d be surprised if it was native DSD as Bluos currently converts DSD to PCM as the DSP stuff won’t work otherwise.
maybe they found a way to support DSD over DoP - I have a PowerNode in the kitchen as a Roon endpoint so even over DoP would be an upgrade potentially
It does state DSD 256.
That’s a big change to Bluos as it’s always been capped at 192/24 and always converted DSD to
PCM if you use their app. It mentions nothing of native though and tbh given they all have a DSP signal path I would imagine it’s all converted or it would have to bypass all of it. It does still state native sampling rates upto 192/24 so I would guess it’s converted but supports input up to DSD256 much like Wiim do. The dac is capable of inputting DSD but it’s all downsampled if above 192/24. I could be wrong but I can’t see the leopard changing its spots.
If it works flawlessly with roon , does Dirac and has no bugs with hdmi this would be definitely a device I would be very interested in.
I got the new Node Nano on Thursday and I’m very happy with it.
Previously I had a Node 2 which I got from @CrystalGipsy of this parish. The nano sounds significantly better with its new ESS DAC (I’m using it to drive analogue active speakers). And with the 10% discount on the Bluesound website it was very reasonably priced IMO.
Can’t speak for the other new Node models, but the Nano is excellent.
That was a while ago now. Hope it served you well.
It’s still going strong, just moved into a purely streamer role
The finish has gone a little tacky for some reason, so it gets hidden away now, but it works perfectly!
I’ve had that happen with a battery pack for my phone. Odd why they choose that covering.
@Tim_Rhodes is the Nano Roon Ready certified all ready at launch?
Yes it is Roon Ready out of the box. There was a firmware update as soon as I powered it on, but it’s worked perfectly from the off.
That’s unusual but holds good stead for the others. I have me eyes on the top one as like the idea of using at as a pre to my power amp using XLRs.
It was the post from Roon (on instagram I think) reporting the Roon Ready status for all three that prompted me to pull the trigger on the Nano. So I think chances are good that they will all work right out of the box.
I received the Node Icon three days ago, replacing an EverSolo DMP-A6. The DAC in the new device, to my ears, is smoother, more revealing and, to me, less shrill than the EverSolo. Of course we are talking slight degrees and preferences vary. Set up was seamless. Roon picked it up immediately. I can confirm that DSD is played from attached drives either directly by USB or over the network. There is a however though. Playing the same tracks through Roon to the Icon leads to the High Quality green light. I must admit to not being able to hear any difference whatsoever.
I am curious what the headphone amp of the Icon sounds like.
The lack of reviews online surpises me. Is everyone being told not to say anything?
They will have an embargo until a certain date
I thought they were already on sale in some countries?
