Currently using a window box to connect to a NAS.

Want to setup a Mac Mini to replace the Windows box.

Have downloaded and installed Roon, but it is not asking for Roon credentials or NAS path.
What am I not doing?
Thanks, Doug

Have you done step 2 of this:
?
Also, you will probably need to unauthorize your Windows Roon server:
Roon Server not started?
And then the “unauthorize” from the posting above.
First, I unauthorized the Windows server.
Second, I installed Roon on a Mac Mini
Third, I changed Mac file security settings
Fourth, I can see the NAS through Mac Network settings
Fifth, when I enter the Network path \\Abbey\Sooloos and try to connect Roon can’t find it.
I have rebooted the Mac, restarted the NAS nothing.
I am ready to abandon Roon (subscription is up in January) and go a different route. This is the least user friendly platform I’ve ever tried to work with.
I don’t think Apple MacOS can understand the special Microsoft Windows syntax for network paths. Try to provide an URL (smb://Abbey/Soooloos
) instead. Try and use the IP-Address instead of the NAS name in the URL if it doesn’t work using the name. Post screenshots of what you enter in Roon and the error message(s) displayed if you need further help. See also:
Hello BlackJack,
After a lot of tweaking I got the install to work. BTW the IP address was recognized. The name of the Qnap was not. Now in the process of importing the Library. Been at it for a few hours and nearly complete.
Now to setup iPhones to act as the Remote.
When it comes to your iPhones. Just have them connect to the new server. They should mention that they can’t find the old server when you are starting up the Roon app. Then you’ll have the option to search for a Roon Server. And then you can connect them to your new one.
I had an awful time trying to get Roon and my Asustor Nas working…
Sod That! says me and purchssed a used Intel i5 NUC
Piece of cake
This is my 1st day proper as a Roon user.
Roon were very kind in extending my trial period while i got things sorted here.
My Linn Klimax DS streamer is enjoying all the attention!.
