Rest asure, the remote works on virtually ‘any’ device. However, the interface is completely full on a windows pc (I do not own a MacBook so I do not know about that), different on an ipad, and yet different on an android phone.
In my office (home based) I prefer the pc version. In my living room with a full audio setup I prefer the ipad air (great audio remote with an IPS 10.5"touch screen.
Sorry for the confusion…different laptop.
That’s EXACTLY correct!
Two different laptops. The Core will be on a dedicated laptop in my listening room located in the basement. I work upstairs and use another laptop there. That’s where I will be doing most of my listening with Roon using a Cambridge Audio CXN V2 as an end point.
Yes, the laptop will be connected via Ethernet, not WiFi. I already have this laptop on most everyday in order to play music from my library thru JRiver.
Thought so. It’s not such an outlandish scenario
Expected availability: Early 2023
So not even a thing but looks very cool tho.
Took possession of my new A7 Lite and it suits me perfectly. I’m using it mainly in portrait mode (think large mobile), but with landscape option. I much prefer it to the Fire HD8, but that’s mainly down to wider functionality, not Roon.
After researching more, I think I am going to grab a 64GB Tab A8 while they are on sale…
Yeah your right but worth waiting if its something people want. It has roon integration which is what sold me on it.
I will update on this forum once mine arrives in a few weeks.
kinda confused by this. if the core is on your laptop, aren’t you already mixing business with pleasure?
I remember another post (maybe another forum) where the user was asking what tablet to buy for use as a roon remote, long before the user had even tried roon. I guess I’d get the trial and see if you even like it. Any current tablet or phone will work as a remote.
See above:
Yeah, me were also confused.
oops, sorry. I didn’t see all the posts. My bad!
Not difficult at all provided you use the right tool for the job:
Fire Toolbox
This thread is fairly hysterical.
This was some of the best inductive reasoning I’ve seen here - you guys were ultimately able to determine exactly how many laptops were in play and what their purposes are. Well done!
Please do update! Could be interesting.
It looks like the successor to a version one product called the YIO remote. It looks like they never delivered on Roon integration for v1. Is there any reason to think they will for v2?
I owned V1, it was being developed by a community member and this time the company themselves are promising roon support.
I see. I hope you share your experience with it when you get it. It certainly looks very interesting.
