That must be recent as two reviews I watched this week said that it was still pending.
Good news though as it is getting some good writeups.
According to Roon Partners it’s Roon Ready. Although it does say its is a DAP.
Mmmm Looks like someone put a typo in when typing DAC
Yeah think that’s correct Michael.
Back to the CXN100, and according to Roon Partners it is a Bridge rather than a DAC, That’s some typo!
CA got back to me this morning.
Our engineers have investigated this issue and identified an issue with the digital connections which they have developed a fix for. We can provide a firmware update which will resolve the stuttering issue that you have experienced when using a digital connection.
Please let me know the Unit ID (Device I.D) of your CXN100. This is an 8-digit/letter number followed by 5 digits in brackets (for example 00123456 (12345) ), and can be found by pressing the ‘i’ button on the front panel of the unit, or opening the StreamMagic app and going to Settings > Firmware > Version > and scrolling to Unit ID.
Once we have the unit ID. we can move the unit into a group that will enable it to receive the firmware update which we are confident will resolve this issue.
New firmware available now. No notification from CA, I just happened to check on Stream Magic. Fingers crossed it’s ok now, I’ve played 3 songs and no drop outs.
Edit. CA have now confirmed the new firmware is available.
Got to say the sound from my Cyrus CD transport through the CXN100 is absolutely sensational.
Playing Can’s Ege Bam Yasi and the drumming in particular just sounds incredible (perhaps not a surprise given the drummer is the god like Jaki Liebezeit)
CA asked me for my Device ID before they will send me the update. I just provided it and am waiting for the update to be available to me.
You’ll have the update tomorrow Collin, possibly before you even wake up due to time difference. Might even be worth checking Stream Magic as the update may be there before they notify you. The new firmware version is 133-b-013.
Thanks. I’ll check again tomorrow.
Is it possible to hook up a turntable to the CXN100 using a phono stage, or do you also need an amplifier in this scenario? Currently my CXN100 is connected to a power amp.
I do have a Mytek Brooklyn Bridge which has an inbuilt phono stage, and it does the job but I’ve read a few comments from people not too enamoured with it. In fact one guy said he got an email response from Mytek which pretty much bad mouthed their own phono stage
The CXN100 does not have an analogue input, so you would need a good ADC (not DAC) to do this connected to the CXN100 by Coax or optical (Toslink).
Just like DACs, audio ADC’s vary hugely in cost and quality.
Thanks, I’ll just sit tight then. Don’t really play much vinyl these days anyway (too lazy!) and the Mytek phono stage does do its job. Probably would need to spend 1000’s on a really good phono stage to notice a massive difference tbh.
Has anybody else noticed they get a loud pop through speakers when powering on the CXN100? Mine is connected to a power amp and I can get by this by making sure it is switched off before powering on CXN100. I’ve raised it with CA and they have said they can fix with a firmware update, so if you have the same issue fear not.
I am selling my 851N and somebody bid for it on eBay and tried to low ball me for £450. His reasoning was that there was the new CXN100 already on the market and there is a new 851N coming in May. I can’t see anything online, anybody else heard about this? I’d imagine it would command about £1500 plus given the old one was about £1400 when first released.
700-950 Euro here in the Netherlands it would seem.
Yeah I know, I’m absolutely giving mine away for £500 but it seems nobody is biting, although I know it will go eventually at that price. I have it for sale here, eBay, Headfi and that new site Maverick(the new HifiWigwam)
I checked to see how much the 851N sold for on eBay over the last few months and it had went for £837, £720, £690, £650 (twice) and £625. Even at those prices it’s a fantastic piece of kit that I was extremely happy with till the brand new shiny CXN100 came along lol.
Edit - a new listing for an 851N has just appeared on eBay this afternoon for the asking price of £779. Good luck with that one !!
Cambridge audio CXN V2 netwerkspeler (winkelmodel) - Lexicom The V2 is now on sale as well.
£1400 for used is a rip off IMO. If it was in stock on Cambridge’s site it would be £1399 lol but it’s out of stock. I think you need to rethink your logic.
‘Old tech’ Kevin!
I know, not nice to realise. But tech moves so fast these days, that yesterday’s ‘stars’ are today’s dwarfs.
