I’m on an older Firmware. Thanks for calling that out!
Old Hub Works with Both A10 + A700
And to clarify something else. The older Platin Hub works correctly with both the A700LEs and the A10s. I think the internal Buchardt Audio WiSA guts are the same across all the units.
New Hub Glitches with Both A10 +A700
The updated Platin Hub HT glitches with both the A700LE and the A10s.
Lost Features - No FOMO
I just purchased another older Platin Hub from VintageKing to run with the A10s and stuff is working fine. I’m not too concerned about eARC exclusive to the Platin Hub HT since I’m a Stereo audio person. ARC is working as advertised for CEC-needs.
Since I don’t plan to run a wired subwoofer any time soon I’m not concerned about the Subwoofer LFE-RCA output exclusive to the Platin Hub HT.
It’s too much of a hassle to return the new Platin Hub HT to Denmark (shipping and tariffs and restocking) - so I’ll hold out for the “3868” > “3683” Firmare to go public and fix up my new Platin Hub HT.
It doesn’t hurt to have a back-up. Maybe I’ll consider adding the Buchardt A200s for the bedroom to replace the PSB Alpha IQ’s my wife and I use. We can put that third Platin Hub to use.
I got in touch with the team at Platin Audio and the new “38-63” beta Firmware is going to be verified (possibly upgraded to a higher, non-anagram version number) and rolled out publicly in due course.
They don’t need any add’l Beta-Test volunteers (because I offered - LOL).
Let’s hope that this will be the fix for a couple of issues with the New Platin Hub HT with the Buchardt Audio Speaker:
Time Stutter Error
96kHz Native content Time Stutter – Poul + Team Platin confirms this is fixed in the upcoming Firmware.
Signal Path Error
ROON Signal Path should correctly read “Lossless” or “Enhanced” instead of “High Quality”
There is some RAAT mis-communication for non-96kHz-native content that is converted to 48kHz that reads as “High Quality” instead of “Lossless”. If you employ Room Correction, the Signal should read “Enhanced”
Right now with new Platin Hub HT the ROON path reads “High Quality” which might be a visual handshake error and the audio coming out of the speakers is “Lossless/Enhanced” IRL.
Let’s hope this is also fixed in the new Firmware.
The new Platin Stereo Hub HT firmware has been released!
CR443GP_3863.062.2
“36-38” to “38-63”
and the other identifier went from
“061” to “062”
96kHz Native Content Timing is Fixed
Testing this with my Buchart A10s, the 96kHz timing glitch has been resolved. The music is playing great.
Roon Signal Path Glitch Remains - “Lossless” for 96kHz Native Content Only. Other stuff gets “High Quality”
The Platin Stereo Hub HT transmits over WiSA at 96kHz only. So content needs to be converted as needed. Native 96kHz will appear in the Roon Signal Path as “Lossless”
Sample: Joy Division “Dead Souls” from Tidal at 96kHz
The older Platin Hub with the older RAAT shows all of these tracks as “Lossless” or, if you have RoomEQ applied, as “Enhanced” – however – my ears do not hear any degradation.
I think this is a visual label issue only.
The more important troubleshooting has been resolved!
