HI I have a Topping EX5, and it used to show an option for Exclusive Mode in the device configuration section, and now it’s gone.
Maybe I missed something, could someone clarify?
Thanks!

Hi, @macaumetal, thank you for your report, could you, please, provide a bit more information about your setup? Do you remember approximately when the Exclusive mode disappeared? Any recent changes in your setup?
Thanks!

Hi @ivan I’m currently running Roon on a PC with Win 11 v24H2 build 26100.2161. It’s a Intel(R) Core™ i9-10900 CPU @ 2.80GHz with 32GB of RAM and a 3060 graphics card connected to a Topping EX5 DAC.
Roon Version is 2.0 Build 1471 earlyaccess 64bit
All my music is stored in two internal 1TB SSD
I really don’t know when the Exclusive Mode stopped showing, but I remember hearing another sound while listening to music and then I went to check it and it was gone from the options.
Thanks and sorry for the delay
Let me know if you need something else

Thank you for the response, @macaumetal. Any recent sound driver/Windows updates?Could you, please, illustrate the issue with a screenshot?
Thanks!

Besides the latest windows update there’s nothing new, but the issue started some time ago even before that update.
The option used to be displayed here on the device configuration pop-up

Thanks
Sorry for the delay, @macaumetal and thank you for providing this screenshot. This is indeed strange that the exclusive mode is not present in the device setup. Are you using ASIO or WASAPI drivers with this device?
Thanks!

I’m using ASIO.
Hi Ivan, I tried your suggestion and when I switched to WASAPI, the exclusive mode was there!
I don’t know why it disappeared from ASIO…I guess I’ll have to change then…
Thanks!
Are you sure there ever was that option shown at all for ASIO?
Roon usually does not show pointless options and according to the guide “Exclusive Mode”, exclusive mode is always on for ASIO (so showing an option to control “Exclusive Mode” would be pointless).
Why? Do you need the option to turn off “Exclusive Mode” offered by WASAPI drivers? If so then yes you have to change then. If all you want is to have “Exclusive Mode” (turned on), then just keep using ASIO if you want to and stop worrying.
I am using Roon in ASIO mode and I do not have the option of turn off or on exclusive mode. It is not available. I know that it is in exclusive mode because if I have Roon open but not playing or playing and I want to listen to any type of audio in any other program, I cannot hear the audio unless I close Roon out.
With WASAPI I have the option to enable/disable. In WASAPI if it is disabled, I can have multiple audio files from different programs going on at the same time.

Maybe I was confused…I don’t need to turn off Exclusive Mode, quite the opposite. I used to not be able to listen to any other sound while Roon was open, but a couple of weeks ago I noticed sounds were playing WHILE using Roon, that led me to check the feature.
I used to use it with WSAPI and maybe that led me to a confusion.
Maybe it’s a DAC driver problem or something DAC related, thanks!
That’s was my problem, a couple of weeks ago other sounds started to play alongside Roon and that caught my atention. AS I said to BlackJack, maybe I was confused about WASAPI and ASIO. Thank you!
