No MQA first unfold

Yes, but your DAC supports up to 192kHz. Try setting “Max sample rate(PCM)” to 48kHz and see if you can verify @john 's findings.

That’s the point. I just set it to 48 and it quit playing.

Correction, it will still play, but no MQA decoding by Roon.

OK, good to know. Thanks

See my correction above. Also, the “enable core decoder” disappears.

You need a new DAC if you want to do MQA.

My DAC actually supports 192kHz, but on mac and windows(asio). On Linux (RoPieee) it’s 48kHz…

I have a Meridian Prime and Dragonfly Cobalt on a RPi4 running RoPieeeXL (2 of them actually) and they are not limited to 48. They both support MQA DAC’s.

My guess would be you’re better off leaving MQA Core decoder disabled for a 48kHz DSP speaker. If someone does a subjective listening comparison I’d like to know.

You are probably right. What I read from this is - it’s all about sample rate and not about bit depth.

Would you recommend this for 24/48 MQA too? The 16/44.1 MQA format is sort of a (we-need-to-have-it)bastard, but the original 24/48 that Bob Stuart used for his initial descriptions may have some merit…
