Really nice modern jazz. Imperfect Perfectionist Piano less trio. Available on Tidal and Qobuz. Very impressive.

1940 Duke Ellington is about as good as jazz gets. This is a great sounding 1978 release from Smithsonian. A double LP with the gatefold cover chock full of information, including six full pages of details about the recording, the orchestra and details about each track. A far cry from the scant “metadata” being provided for almost all new releases. I guess that I’m showing my age (67) by sounding like a crotchety old man. 
Side one just finished with the original version of “Cotton Tail” and all I can say is WOW!!!

Sax/bass/drums trio with the focus on the rhythm section. Not that that stops Anna Webber playing some very nice sax.

This Muse record from 1979 is actually a reissue of the 1972 recording initially released as “The Gap Sealer”, which in turn was released on CD with some bonus tracks. Unfortunately it doesn’t appear to available on Tidal or Qobuz.
