I purchased last night after listening to the Qobuz version which was supposedly 48/24. Sounded good but confirmed on Audirvāna that is was MP3 320kbps quality… However the DSD 64 Speaker Mix and Headphone Mix were both superb on the Studio Monitors and Hifiman Arya.
The downloaded PCM Albums still came up as Lossy 320kbps.
However a great recommmdation @Vincent_Kennedy Also enjoyed both other albums you posted. Cheers

I wonder if Audirvana sees everything that was converted from DSD to PCM as an MP3. I really doubt that Chesky would try to sell MP3s as high resolution PCM.

Yep, don’t know the answer to that. But I had noted that Maggie by Jeremiah Fraites in THX Surround came up as the same.
Not overly concerned, as I said “sounded good” Both do.

I just discovered this release on Qobuz today (it’s also available on Tidal) and like way too many streaming releases these days there is scant information about the recording and the musicians. Even a Google search turned up nothing. In any event it’s an interesting, entertaining and very enjoyable recording that sits at the intersection of jazz and popular music, in other words, jazz purists beware. For everyone else, please enjoy responsibly.

Thanks for letting me know. I will grab them this evening after the last minute Christmas prep is over.

I’ve listened to both recordings and I really like them. They are on Qobuz so it’s been nice to listen to both of them at 192/24. I really dig this cross-over of Jazz and Classical. To me there’s so many similarities.

Thanks!

Oh nice, I didn’t know Just Listen had their catalogue on Qobuz; thanks for the tip.

Fantastic listening for late in the evening. Great with headphones too. But I do prefer the spaciousness of it in 2chan.

An outstanding Sonny Rollins, IMHO.

An understatement if there ever was one. If you have Qobuz subscription then there is this more complete version available in high resolution (24bit/192kHz):

About 30 years later Joe Henderson paid homage to the great Sonny Rollins with this trio recording also captured at the Village Vanguard and, dare I say it, almost as essential as the Rollins classic:

All killer and no filler. Not available on either Tidal or Qobuz, but I didn’t search that thoroughly, maybe someone else will have better luck. Worth looking for.

Here’s another from my year end deep dive into the dark corners of my music collection. This isn’t even “identified” by Roon nor is it available on Tidal or Qobuz. Nonetheless an outstanding recording. As is the nature of jazz many of the true giants get ignored while tons of awards are given to the mere mortals.
